Tilden Regional Park is a popular park in the Berkeley area and if you ever have the chance to go there, you should. Before you start planning a trip to this park, you’ll want to learn more about it. Below is information about the park, such as location, hours, features, and things you can do while there.
About Tilden Regional Park
The park is located in San Francisco’s East Bay, but it has several main entrances, with one being located in Berkeley. The park is open seven days per week from five in the morning until 10 in the evening. Its address is 2501 Grizzly Peak Boulevard, Orinda, CA 94563.
Tilden Regional Park sits on just over 2,000 acres. An interesting fact is that the park is named after an attorney from the area by the name of Charles Leep Tilden. The attorney served on the Easy Bay Regional Park District’s Board of Directors. He was one of the first to do so.
As for activities, you can go picnicking at one of the many spots. Also, weddings and receptions can be held in several areas of the park, and people can go fishing and swim in specific parts of the park. Other activities include hiking, cycling, and golfing at the public course. These are only a few of the many things guests can do while at Tilden Regional Park.
The botanic gardens are one of the most popular features of the park. It is a very large garden that includes endangered species plants, rare plants, and a collection of plants that are native to California. Guests can take tours of the gardens, or they can take a self-guided tour.
The Merry-Go-Round is another popular feature. It is an antique ride, and it is a must-see if you have kids you’ll be bringing with you. Other features include the Nature Area & Little Farm, as well as the Brazilian Room, which is a facility that is popular among those looking to throw a wedding or host a corporate party.
It’s worth noting that the Little Farm was constructed over 60 years ago and it is home to various farm animals. This includes pigs, cows, rabbits, and sheep, to name a few. There are several heritage breeds that can be found at the farm, and this includes the Milking Shorthorn Cattle. If you visit the farm, then you are free to bring along celery or lettuce that you can feed to the animals, but be aware that you can’t bring any other kind of foods.
Let’s not forget to mention the many species of animals that can be seen throughout the park. Are you a fan of bird watching? If so, then bring a pair of binoculars with you.
As you can see, there are many things to do and see at Tilden Regional Park. Make sure you bring a camera if you decide to pay the park a visit and plan for a long trip. You can easily spend hours in the park.
